Backstage

Here we are backstage at the Globe Theater. No, we're not on the South Bank of London, but on the Market Square stage in downtown Knoxville. As you can see, with some plywood, draperies, and ingenuity, you can create a Shakespearean experience anywhere.

That's fun to see - I'm starting to get vague notions of metaphors for life, and I'm still just on my first cup of coffee. Knoxville will never seem the same to me.

Behind the scenes, the magic of theatre reveled!

Did you enjoy the play?

I don't know much about Shakespeare's work but I did read an abridged version of all his plays once....and it wasn't even for school. :-)

USElaine - have another cup (or two) and tell me what you come up with. I could substitute "county commission" for "Shakespearean experience" and speak truth to power, as they say.

marley - drapery and plywood, sir, the equivalent of smoke and mirrors

ming - yes, I enjoyed it a lot with the Sopranos twist, and I didn't think I would.

Who mentioned the Sopranos? Now your'e talking, real dialogue, soliloquies and drama. Bada Bing! I would love to see the Tony Soprano do the quality of mercy speech, from the Merchant of Venice! Pound of flesh and all that.
