Crepe Myrtle
The crepe myrtle trees are in full bloom on Summit Hill Drive. The blossoms look like little petticoats. I like their contrast with the minimalist lines of the Crimson Building in the background.
The crape myrtles are almost gone here. They are my absolute favorite. I have a smallish one right outside my window that I have enjoyed while pecking away on my computer. The white ones leave "snow" on the ground when they drop their petals. Just lovely.

You're right the frilly petals contrast well with the severe lines of the building. Pretty colours too...
I love the colors in this shot, delicious!
Yes, you've got some good contrasting colours there! Makes for a bright shot. The flower looks very delicate.
I see this tree a lot on American dailies. It's just so pretty. Perfectly balanced against the building and that lovely blue sky.
I LOVE crape myrtles. I have a lavender one and a white chocolate one in the back.
I like them, but they grow like weeds. Always having to cut the new growth away.
Ah, but Jim, they only put flowers on the new growth, so you are doing exactly the right thing!
These have the added virtue of blooming in mid-to-late summer, after all the spring bloomers are long gone. I like their smooth bark too.
