The Market Square Interactive Fountain used to be a kind of lawless water park before this "NO" sign appeared a few months ago. I can only imagine that the Powers That Be in city government had to write the rules because they'd seen these things happening. And for the sake of public health and safety, I'm all for these No Statements - but I think the little kid behind the sign is still trying to figure them out. 172 CDPB blogs are participating in July's theme day. It makes me laugh that you need to tell people not to do something as stupid a drink fountain water that people have been running through. Doh! Love the way you've caught the kid and your thoughts. He does look intense. Politician in the making, can't figure out what's going on. Great choice.

Isn't it almost funny to think of adult people scurrying around their communities taking pictures of signs. And if somebody had asked what that is all about and you said a sign with "no" on it, they might... well. It is kind of funny.

It is amazing people have to be told some things. I hope they at least chlorinate the water.
Great post for today! Ah, how would sign makers ever make a living without Risk Management offices?! If the city were to be sued by anyone who claimed to get a disease or injury while enjoying the fountain, it has at least attempted to cover its liability. In California so many cities had been sued by parents for injuries their children sustained on swings and metal "merry go rounds" that most parks and schools removed these from their playgrounds. It's a shame because children need ans seek the vestibular stimulation that equipment offered, and the replacements often don't. In non litigious countries like France I wonder if we'd see these kinds of signs.
