It's Veterans Day in the US, the annual holiday honoring the nation's veterans. It originally began as Armistice Day to honor the end of World War I and its veterans. President Woodrow Wilson called it "a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace." In the 1950s, the observance was changed to honor veterans of all wars and was renamed Veterans Day.Unfortunately, it looks like the cause of world peace has taken a beating over the decades.
