Volunteer Autumn

You know autumn is on the way in my town by observing what's blooming in the decorative planters along Volunteer Landing on the waterfront. Orange and white are the primary fall colors in Knoxville, and mums take center stage.
This photo was inspired by Marley at Cheltenham Daily Photo, who has done some fantastic work with floral photographs.

I love the colors! Of course, I would! I also like the bridge in the background shrouded in early morning fog/mist. This scene sits within a very short walking distance from where I sit at work. I love this photograph!

OK , I'll say it ....just once.....go vols.
You photo today is spectacular. That misty bridge the long grass , the orange mums. All you need are some dyed blue mums to go with those orange ones and then i could say WAR EAGLE! tee hee

Oh my goodness! Even the flowers?!! LOL!

I love simple flowers like mums. Then use them in huge bouquets like this. ;)

We color coordinate our flowers in Los Angeles, too. This is why I always plant red impatiens in my flower beds. THey look good in spring, fall AND winter -- and here they'll bloom year round.

This is a great shot!

"Mums" is certainly easier to spell than crysanthamums - but it did not click in my poor head until now! This is a lovely photo: colour, line and perspective. The curve of the ribbon grass binds it all together.

There appears to be no bounds to this "volmania". How did the Volunteers tag come into being?

This is a great photo and its good that the streets are being brightend up by these autumn favourites.

I'm so crap at taking flowers. No really I get bored and start shooting the dirt around or the rubbish or crave a fag, even though I've given up years ago. These are beautiful and beautifully composed in front of that Impressionist bridge shrouded in mystical mist in the background. Er yes I have had a drink or several courtesy of the BBC giving him a pay rise. More j&d for B.

I like it. Are there many sights to see in your lovely town?

Love the contrast between the B&W and hard lines of yesterday's blog and today's soft and colourful look!
